Overseas Timetable
America, Asia, Australasia, Africa
The unique Thomas Cook Overseas Timetable was published for 30 years from 1981 until the end of 2010, covering rail, bus and ferry travel throughout North and South America, Asia, Africa and Australasia, in fact the rest of the world.
It was published six times per year, the final edition being the November-December 2010 issue. Unlike its European counterpart, the word 'Rail' did not appear in the title, and there's a good reason for this. Although it contained every conceivable railway timetable (even suburban services in many cases), it also contained numerous bus timetables, due to railway networks being fairly sparse in some areas of the world (Brazil for example). Think of it as a 'surface transport' timetable. In fact, it was a more comprehensive timetable for most countries than you are likely to find in those countries themselves, and that includes the USA!
The final edition is now out of print, but some earlier editions are still available from Thomas Cook Publishing.
Many of the rail services shown in the Overseas Timetable are now included in the Beyond Europe section of the European Rail Timetable.
Seasonal editions: Expanded twice-yearly Summer and Winter editions were also on sale through bookshops and the Thomas Cook Publishing website.
