bullet From Saturday December 5th Delaine are reverting to the normal timetable on route 102 Peterborough - Deeping St James with the reinstatement of the Saturday service and the 0740 Deepings to Peterborough journey.

Road Run on Sunday for preserved buses

bullet As the pandemic has prevented Busfest in Whittlesey from happeneing, the Eastern Bus Enthusiasts group has organised a Road Run for preserved buses this Sunday, October 11th. Starting from Queensgate at 09.25, the itinerary covers a wide area. No passengers will be taken (except by private arrangement) but members of the public will be able to view the passing vehicles along the route provided that social distancing is observed and that groups consist of no more than six people. Full details are on the EBE Facebook page.

Further Delaine changes from September 28th

bullet Delaine has issued a new timetable for route 101/2 valid from today, September 28th, due to current low patronage on route 102 (note that the date at the bottom of the timetable is 10/20).

bullet Service 101 is not affected, but the 0740 service 102 Deepings to Peterborough is withdrawn on Mondays to Saturdays, and ALL journeys on service 102 are suspended on Saturdays until further notice.

Delaine changes from September 3rd

bullet From the start of the new school term on September 3rd Delaine has made the following changes:

bullet The 1645 journey on route 102 Peterborough - Deeping St James - Bourne is cut back to Market Deeping Health Centre (this corrects my earlier report).

bullet On schooldays the 0745 Peterborough to Bourne (route 101) is reserved for students only, as the social distancing rules for school students are different to those for adults. This also applies to the 0730 102 journey but only between Market Deeping Health Centre and Bourne. The 1545 Bourne to Peterborough journey (route 101) and the 1545 Bourne to Market Deeping (route 102) are likewise reserved for students only.

bullet On route 201 the 0744 Stamford - Bourne and 1545 Bourne - Stamford journeys only carry students.

bullet On certain other journeys at school times the upper deck is reserved for students. Full details are on the Delaine website (and on appropriate links on the ROUTES page) as are similar details for route 203.

04/09/20 (updated 18/09/20).

Hamiltons & Buckby's 206

bullet This Thursdays only shopping service 206 from Burton Latimer to Peterborough is reported to be restarting tomorrow, September 3rd, following suspension during the pandemic.

School service changes

bullet Stagecoach 38 Eye to Arthur Mellows Village College in Glinton recommences on September 7th and is renumbered 608. Two buses will operate rather than one (officially timetabled one minute apart) to aid social distancing.

bullet Stagecoach school service 46 Peterborough - Sawtry is understood to be withdrawn.

bullet Centrebus 47 Oakham - Uppingham - Peterborough has recommenced but is now a "closed door" service and will only take students in posession of a termly student ticket.

Stagecoach B replaced by 904 from August 30th

bullet Stagecoach's Busway B service is now concentrated on the Busway itself and Peterborough is now served by hourly route 904 running Peterborough - Stilton - Sawtry - Huntingdon - St Ives, and also calling at Hinchingbrooke Hospital. Departures from Peterborough Acland Street are hourly 0600 to 2000 (no Sunday service). For Cambridge change at St Ives.

bullet Between Huntingdon and St Ives the 904 is routed direct via Houghton rather than via Oxmoor, Hartford and RAF Wyton. For these destinations change onto Busway route B at Huntingdon bus station.

X4 timetable from August 30th

bullet The river bridge at Oundle has now reopened and service X4 will revert to its old routeing through Oundle from the next timetable change on August 30th. The new timetable can be found under the ROUTES link.

Stagecoach X12 to Skegness

bullet Stagecoach is once again running the popular service X12 to Skegness, on Saturdays and Sundays from August 1st to 30th, also on Bank Holiday Monday August 31st. Departure from Peterborough is from Queensgate Bays 9 or 10 at 0945, arriving Boston at 1100 and Skegness at 1155. The bus will also pick up at Market Deeping Market Place (1005) and Spalding Bus Station (1035). The return journey will leave Skegness at 1730 and Boston at 1815, arriving back in Peterborough at 1930.

bullet Pay the driver on the bus. Please pay by card or contactless or have the exact change. Concession passes and other tickets such as Dayrider or Megarider cannot be used.

bullet Fares are unchanged from last year - adult is £13.50 return, children (aged 5-15) and senior concessionary passholders £9.00 return, family fare (up to 4 people, no more than 2 adults) £30.00.

26/07/20, updated 28/07/20

Excel timetable from July 5th

bullet There is a new Excel Peterborough - Norwich timetable from July 5th. Monday to Friday timings remain the same as far as Peterborough is concerned but the Saturday timetable (from July 11th) is restored to two buses per hour meaning that the full timetable is now in operation.

bullet The revised timetable can be found on the Routes page.

Stagecoach Citi 1 from July 12th

bullet Stagecoach Citi 1 has a revised timetable from Sunday July 12th. The daytime frequency remains at every 12 minutes (15 on Saturdays, 20 on Sundays) but there will be additional early morning journeys, and Orton Southgate will be served by more journeys during the morning and evening peaks on Mondays to Fridays.

bullet The revised timetable can be found on the Routes page.

Stagecoach X4 and National Express

bullet Stagecoach X4 has a new timetable from July 5th with additional journeys between Kettering and Northampton. Peterborough timings are not affected.

bullet National Express stopped serving Peterborough from March 24th and ceased all its coach services nationwide from April 6th. A limited network will be reintroduced from July 1st but Peterborough does not yet feature in the new timetables.

Using buses and trains from June 15th

bullet As has been widely reported, face coverings will be compulsory on public transport from Monday June 15th. The only exceptions are children under 11, disabled people and those with certain health conditions. The Police will be able to issue fixed penalty notices for non compliance (£100, or £50 if paid within 14 days).

bullet With the opening of non-essential shops from the same date, the doors of Queensgate bus station will once again be open, avoiding the need for passengers to walk around the outside of the building to access buses. Social distancing measures will be in place. Note that the bus station toilets will remain closed, but those upstairs in Queensgate will be open.

bullet The relaxation of the concessionary bus pass rules has, I believe, now ceased, and passes are once again not valid before 0930 on Mondays to Fridays (passes issued to Lincolnshire residents are valid all day as usual).

bullet Please remember to socially distance at the bus stop and on board, and to pay by card rather than cash where possible.

Delaine 101/102 normal timetable from June 15th

bullet Delaine services 101 and 102 Peterborough - Market Deeping - Bourne will revert to their normal pre-pandemic timetable from Monday June 15th. This means the Sunday service will be restored from June 21st, which also happens to be Father's Day.

Stagecoach Busway B from June 14th

bullet The Busway B service has a new timetable from June 14th (see the ROUTES page), reverting to an hourly frequency from Peterborough. Monday to Friday departures from Peterborough will be at 0635, 0735 then hourly 0915 to 2015 (varies on Saturdays). Journeys will terminate at the Regent Street stop in Central Cambridge returning from the Parkside stop. The temporary extension of the Peterborough journeys to Trumpington Park & Ride will cease.

Enhanced Peterborough Citi services from Sunday June 14th

bullet Peterborough Citi services 1 to 6 will be increased in frequency from Sunday June 14th as part of the return towards normal services following the pandemic. Full timetables can be found on the ROUTES page.

bullet Monday to Saturday daytime frequencies will be as follows: Citi 1 will run every 12 minutes (15 on Saturdays), Citi 2 and 3 will run every 12 minutes, Citi 4 and 6 will run every 20 minutes, and Citi 5 will be half hourly to each of the outer destinations Cardea, Yaxley, Dogsthorpe and Welland, giving a 15 minute frequency over the central core.

bullet Sunday daytime frequencies will be every 20 minutes on Citi 1, half-hourly on 2 and 3, hourly on 4 and 6, and hourly to each of the four destinations on route 5.

Excel Peterborough - Norwich back to normal from Sunday May 31st

bullet First Excel has a revised Peterborough - Norwich timetable from Sunday May 31st. It reverts to a half-hourly frequency and as far as Peterborough is concerned appears to be identical to the normal timetable which was in force before the lockdown. The full timetable can be found on the ROUTES page.

Stagecoach X4 hourly from Monday June 1st

bullet Stagecoach Midlands has issued a new timetable for X4 Peterborough - Corby - Kettering - Northampton valid from Monday June 1st. The temporary two-hourly frequency becomes broadly hourly, with journeys once again running throughout the day. The full timetable can be found on the ROUTES page.

bullet I am monitoring other services on a daily basis and any changes will be notified here. Revisions to Stagecoach services in Peterborough are expected from Sunday June 14th.

Bank Holiday Monday May 25th

bullet Bus operators will be running their current Sunday timetables on Bank Holiday Monday May 25th. Since Delaine's Sunday service is currently suspended they will not be running any buses on Monday.

Delaine increases services from Friday May 22nd

bullet From Friday May 22nd Delaine's principal services are restored to a near normal timetable:

bullet Route 102 to Deeping St James is restored as 101/2 is now running to a Saturday timetable Mondays to Saturdays, with additional journeys on Mondays to Fridays at 0610 Bourne - Peterborough (101) and 0730 Peterborough - Deepings (102). The Sunday service remains suspended.

bullet Route 201/2 is restored to normal timetable except the 0610 Bourne-Stamford-Peterborough has become a 201 (formerly 202) and the 0650 Bourne-Stamford-Peterborough operates 5 minutes earlier throughout (depart Bourne 0645 & Stamford 0730).

bullet Route 203 Stamford - Market Deeping - Spalding is restored to normal timetable.

Exact fare on Stagecoach from May 18

bullet Those still using cash rather than cards to pay for their bus fare should note that Stagecoach East is introducing an exact fare policy from Monday May 18th in order to reduce risk to their drivers in handling cash. Any left over change will be donated to a local charity.

Stagecoach Citi 6 and Busway B from May 11

bullet From Monday May 11th evening journeys on Stagecoach Citi 6 will once again call at Serpentine Green Shopping Centre on Mondays to Saturdays. Journeys until 2045 from Acland Street (but not the 2145) will call there, leaving Sepentine Green towards the City hourly until 2115. On Sundays the last journeys to call at Serpentine Green will be the 1645 from Acland Street and 1618 from Serpentine Green as before.

bullet There will also be minor changes to Stagecoach Busway B Peterborough - Cambridge from the same date. Not previously mentioned is that in the temporary timetable (since April 5th) buses to and from Cambridge continue to Addenbrooke's Hospital and Trumpington Park and Ride.

Diamond 203 Irchester - Peterborough Withdrawn

bullet Sadly it has been reported that Diamond Coaches of Rushden is ceasing all its local bus services from Monday April 27th. This of course includes the monthly Irchester - Raunds - Thrapston - Peterborough service 203, which was worked by a double decker and was popular with shoppers and bus enthusiasts alike. This will be a sad loss.

First Excel revision from April 26

bullet The temporary timetable for First's Excel route has been slightly revised from April 26th, but does not affect Peterborough. There is an earlier journey from Wisbech to Kings Lynn and a later journey in the other direction.

ROUTES page updated, Easter Arrangements, Delaine changes

bullet The ROUTES page has been updated to include links to all the latest timetables including temporary pandemic timetables. I will do my best to keep this up to date. City and Country destination pages will not be updated during the pandemic and the links have been removed from the menu.

bullet Stagecoach and First Excel will be running a Sunday service (based on the revised temporary timetables) on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

bullet The Routes page also includes Delaine's Easter Arrangements - note that Delaine will finish early on Friday and Saturday and will not be running at all on Easter Sunday or Easter Monday.

bullet Delaine will be altering its services again from Tuesday April 14th with a slight increase in service and the reintroduction of a Saturday service on route 201. Links to the new timetables are on the Routes page.

Further Reductions from Sunday April 5th - EXCEL

bullet The Excel service to/from Kings Lynn and Norwich has been further reduced from Sunday April 5th. Buses now leave Peterborough hourly 0820 to 1920, and the Sunday service is reduced to every two hours (from Peterborough 1020, 1220, 1420, 1620, 1820).

bullet Destination and Route pages on this website do not reflect these changes.

Further Reductions from Sunday April 5th - STAGECOACH

bullet Due to the lockdown, Peterborough citi services 1 to 4 and 6 will be further reduced from Sunday 5th April with services generally every 30 minutes during the day, and finishing earlier in the evening.

bullet Busway B to/from Huntingdon and Cambridge will serve Peterborough only every two hours. Departures from Acland Street are at 0830, 1030, 1230, 1430, 1630, 1830 Mondays to Saturdays.

bullet Service X4 Peterborough - Northampton continues to run a Sunday service all week.

bullet Destination and Route pages on this website do not reflect these changes.

Coronavirus - Reduction in Bus Services (FURTHER REVISED) - DELAINE

bullet Delaine has issued a further version of its temporary alterations valid from Thursday March 26th superceding earlier versions. Services to and from Peterborough remain as per Tuesday's version but there are changes to route 203 and other services.

bullet Service 101 is basically hourly with last bus 1700 from Bourne, 1800 from Peterborough. The Saturday service consists of just five journeys each way and there is no Sunday service. Route 102 Peterborough - Deeping St James is once again suspended having run a partial service for just one day on Monday 23rd.

bullet Route 201 has a reduced service (seven journeys each way) and will not run on Saturdays.

bullet See the document from Delaine (linked above) for other routes not serving Peterborough.

bullet Concessionary passes are now being accepted at any time of day until further notice.

bullet Destination and Route pages on this website do not reflect these changes.

Stagecoach timetable changes from Monday March 9, 2020

bullet As well as the temporary bus station (see below), there are timetable changes to Stagecoach services from Monday March 9 as follows:

bullet Citi 1 - Revised timetable with journeys retimed by a few minutes to improve reliability. The Sunday daytime frequency is increased from every 30 minutes to every 15 minutes. Journeys to Werrington will depart from Queensgate Bay 6.

bullet Citi 2 - Revised timetable with daytime journeys running every 12 minutes instead of every 10 minutes. Journeys to Paston will depart from Queensgate Bay 8. Certain late evening journeys will no longer serve the main entrance at the City Hospital, calling instead at the stop by the main road as they do during rush hours (now shown in timetables as stop 4).

bullet Citi 3 - Revised timetable with daytime journeys running every 12 minutes instead of every 10 minutes.

bullet Citi 4 - Revised timetable. Serves Acland Street bus park instead of Queensgate bus station in both directions. On Mondays to Fridays the last journey from the City Hospital will be slightly earlier at 2003, and the journey extended beyond Parnwell to Eye will leave the city centre earlier at 1845 instead of 1905 (still 1855 on Saturdays).

bullet Citi 5 - Revised timetable with daytime services to each outer destination (Yaxley, Cardea, Bluebell and Welland) reduced from every 20 minutes to every 30 minutes. As a result buses over the core section (Stanground South Street to Dogsthorpe Central Avenue Shops) will run every 15 minutes instead of every 10 minutes. Evening services are also retimed. Services to Dogsthorpe and Welland will now leave from Queensgate Bay 1A.

bullet Citi 6 - Revised timetable with changes after 1600 hrs. Serves Acland Street bus park (Bay 3) instead of Queengate bus station.

bullet Route 23/24 - Serves Acland Street bus park (Bay 1) instead of Queengate bus station. The 1620 Peterborough to Lynch Wood leaves 5 minutes earlier.

bullet Route 31 - Timetable unchanged but serves Acland Street bus park (Bay 1) instead of Queengate bus station.

bullet Route 33 - On Mondays to Fridays the Peterborough - Whittlesey Victory Avenue journeys before 1510 run five minutes later in both directions, although the through journeys to/from March are not affected. Serves Acland Street bus park (Bay 1) instead of Queengate bus station.

bullet Routes 36, 37, 46, 60, 63 - Timetables unchanged but serves Acland Street bus park (Bay 1) instead of Queengate bus station.

bullet Routes 61, 62 - Outbound journeys to Fengate and Newark (route 61) and to Newborough and Maxey (route 62) run two minutes earlier on Mondays to Fridays. Inbound journeys are unchanged. Serves Acland Street bus park (Bay 1) instead of Queengate bus station.

bullet Busway B - Timetable unchanged but serves Acland Street bus park (Bay 3) instead of Queengate bus station.

Temporary Bus Station in Acland Street

bullet From Monday March 9, the eastern side of the bus station (bays 10a to 20) is due to close for approximately 18 months for building work in connection with Queensgate Shopping Centre. Many Stagecoach bus services will relocate to a temporary bus station in Acland Street coach park, approximately five minutes walk from the bus station. Stagecoach Citi routes 1, 2, 3 and 5 will remain in Queensgate bus station as will route X4 and services operated by Delaine, First Excel and other operators, but some will move to different bays. National Express services will relocate to Acland Street apart from those in the middle of the night. For full details see the Bus Station page.

31/01/2020, updated 23/02/2020

Revised X4 timetable from February 23, 2020

bullet Stagecoach is changing the X4 timetable from February 23 with most journeys retimed by a few minutes. The first journey on Saturday mornings is withdrawn, so the first bus from Oundle to Peterborough is now at 0638 instead of 0608, and the first Saturday departure from Peterborough is now 0730 instead of 0652. Also withdrawn is the 1855 Peterborough to Corby journey on Saturdays. Relevant pages have been updated.

12/02/2020, updated 20/02/20

New Excel timetable from February 16, 2020

bullet The XL Peterborough - Kings Lynn - Norwich service operated by First under the Excel branding will have a new timetable from Sunday February 16, and from the following day will also have brand new double deck buses sporting a revised red livery. The new buses include free WiFi, USB sockets, comfortable high-backed seats, seat-back phone holders, and some seats will be located around tables. They also have the latest Euro VI low-emission engines.

bullet The new Monday to Saturday timetable will feature later journeys for Thorney as the last bus in each direction will no longer bypass the village. Most timings for other locations are similar, except that journeys towards Peterborough will depart up to 10 minutes earlier. An exception, however, is that alternate buses will take the Dereham bypass meaning that passengers from Peterborough to Dereham will now have an hourly service instead of every 30 minutes.

bullet On Sundays the timetable is completely revised, with departures from Peterborough hourly 0900 to 1900. The last Sunday bus right through to Norwich will now be at 1800 instead of 1640, although in the other direction the last Sunday departure from Norwich for Peterborough will be earlier at 1530.

bullet Note that buses on the Excel route carry a letter A, B or C according to the particular route variation taken (also D is used for Dereham - Norwich journeys). The ones that bypass Thorney carry letter C. Beware that buses showing route B could easily be confused with Stagecoach's route B to Cambridge, except that the new Excel buses are a distinctive red, and most of the buses to Cambridge carry a new light green livery!

Rail Fares to London
